CRSC Fulfilled Mecca Light Rail Operation and Maintenance Tasks

October 7th,marked with the end of the Hajj, the annual Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia, the operation and maintenance task for Mecca light rail has been successfully completed by CRSC.

More than two million Muslims from 160 countries finished their pilgrimage with the help of the Mecca light rail, to which CRSC undertakes the maintenance of control system. All together 18.25 km with nine stations, the line ferried pilgrims between the three holy sites of Mina, Arafat and Muzdalifah. The operation of the Mecca light rail significantly eased the transport bottleneck during hajj, and provides comfortable transportation services to all the pilgrims from various countries of the world.

The annual pilgrimage has drawn huge attention from the world’s Muslim, Saudi Arabian and Chinese government. To assure the smooth operation of the Mecca light rail, CRSC strengthened coordination and communication with owner and other contractors, improved the on-site maintenance and security force by dispatching the most experienced and talented employees and establishing an accountability mechanism for different levels.

During the seven days of hajj, the Mecca light rail ran 24 hours a day with five modes. Under the busiest modes of B/C/D, the departure interval was as short as 70 seconds. CRSC teams took turns on watch in case of any breakdowns or evacuation problems. Consequently, CRSC’s work was praised and acknowledged by the owners and pilgrims from all over the world.
