In the morning of Jan. 21st, the ground-breaking ceremony of Jakarta-Bandung High-speed Railway, the ever first HSR in Indonesia as well as Southeast Asia was held in Walini, West Java Province. CRSC’s president Yin Gang, CRSC International Company’s general manager Zhang Jingfang and deputy manager Deng Qiang were invited to the ceremony, witnessing the great moment in railway cooperation between China and Indonesia, as well as the historic occasion of “Going Global” of China’s HSR.
Chinese State Councilor Wang Yong, who attended the groundbreaking ceremony for the project together with China Railways Corporation’s general manger Sheng Guangzu, read a congratulatory message from Chinese President Xi Jinping to Indonesian President Joko Widodo at the ceremony. Leaders on both sides pressed the start button together after delivering their speeches, marking the launch of the HSR project.
The high-speed railway, stretching from the capital Jakarta to the fourth largest city of Bandung, has a distance of approximately 150 km with a designed speed of 350km/h. All of the technology, standards and equipment would be from China. As a double-track railway, the route will serve four stations in its first phase, with a passenger capacity of 28000 person-time. Travel time between the two cities will be reduced from more than three hours at present to less than 40 minutes once the project is finished, which would tremendously boost the infrastructure in Indonesia.
Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway project is the ever first deal of “China’s high-speed railway whole industry chain” that goes global. The construction and operation of the project would be carried out by a joint venture comprised of a Chinese consortium led by China Railway Corporation and an Indonesian consortium led by Wijaya Karya, the well-known Indonesian contractor. This project is the first overseas high-speed railway deal that covers a whole industry chain from technical standards, survey and design, engineering construction, equipment manufacturing, material supply, operation management to human resource training. This is also the first “Go Global” cooperation masterplanned by governments but under a business-to-business contract. As a successful practice and major innovation of Chinese railway’s marketing model abroad, it is a good example of integrating domestic and international markets and resources, and building the brand of “Chinese Railway” in the international arena.
On the ground-breaking ceremony, all the companies on the whole industrial chain were present. As a forerunner and leader in Chinese rail transit control industry, CRSC has formed the richest database of high-speed rail testing cases thanks to its construction experience of more than 19, 000 km high-speed railways, making it the only rail transit control system solution provider that can supply a complete chain of products and services. CRSC boasts of its advantage of one-stop service that combines three sectors - design and integration, equipment manufacturing and engineering service - in one company. CRSC will work jointly with associate organizations to participate in the whole process of the construction of Jakarta-Bandung HSR to make this high-speed railway a pilot project of Chinese HSR “Go Global” strategy.
Besides this HSR project, CRSC is also proactively participating in other overseas railway projects on the inter-state level, such as the American Xpress West project, California high-speed railway, Russian high-speed railway, Malaysia-Singapore high-speed railway, China-Thailand railway and Hungary-Serbia railway.
